Cheap Pay Monthly Websites: What A Low Price Should Still Include

Oct 9, 2026 | Advice

Cheap pay monthly websites get a bad name they do not always deserve. A low monthly figure does not have to mean a worse website, and a high one is no promise of a better one. What matters is what the price includes and how the work gets done. We sit at the affordable end of this market on purpose, so here is an honest look at what a small monthly fee can cover, what it cannot, and how to tell the difference before you buy.

What A Monthly Price Has To Cover

Take a small business website apart and the running costs behind cheap pay monthly websites are modest. A domain is a few pounds a year. Hosting for a brochure site is a couple of pounds a month. An SSL certificate costs nothing. Email on your own domain is a pound or two.

The real cost is people. Somebody has to build the thing, shape the words so they sound like your business, and be there in April when your price list changes. That is the part a monthly price is really buying, and it is the part worth asking about.

So the useful question about cheap pay monthly websites is not how it can be so cheap, it is how the company does the work for that. There are good answers to that question, and ours is below.

How We Keep The Price This Low

There are good reasons cheap pay monthly websites can be cheap, and four of ours are below. None of them are clever.

  • We build the same kind of site over and over. Layout for a small service business is a solved problem: who you are, what you do, where you do it, proof you are any good, and an obvious way to get hold of you. We are not redrawing that from scratch every time, so it does not take twenty hours.
  • There is no sales team and no account manager. You deal with the person doing the work.
  • One setup form, about fifteen minutes of your time, instead of a fortnight of meetings and a proposal document nobody reads.
  • A twelve month minimum term. That commitment is what lets the monthly figure stay where it is.

Those are process savings, not corners. The build still gets done properly, and the words still get written for you rather than pasted in as you typed them.

What You Actually Get For £24.99 A Month

Our own answer starts with Starter, at £24.99 plus VAT a month. For that you get a single page, written for you, with your domain registered and renewed as part of the price, hosting, an SSL certificate so browsers do not flag your site as insecure, an email forwarder on your own domain, and search setup done at build rather than sold back to you later.

Being straight about the limits, because they matter more than the inclusions: Starter is one page, there is no contact form on it, and the monthly update included on our larger packages is not part of it. For a sole trader whose work arrives by word of mouth, where the site exists so somebody can check you are real and tap a phone number, that is the whole job done. Spending four figures on that would buy nothing you could point at in a year.

That is the honest case for cheap pay monthly websites, and it applies to a lot of small businesses.

When It Is Worth Stepping Up A Package

The limit of cheap pay monthly websites at their smallest arrives at a predictable point: when the website has to go and win work rather than just confirm you exist.

Somebody searching a trade and a town name is comparing three or four firms in about ninety seconds and reading for detail. If you want to show up properly for more than one service, each service needs somewhere of its own to live. That is Essential at £39.99 for up to three pages, or Professional at £54.99 for up to five, which also adds a gallery or reviews section and one small update a month. Premium is £89.99 for up to ten pages and your own blog. All plus VAT, and extra changes on any package are £10 plus VAT each.

That is the ladder. Pick the size your business honestly needs. Not more because it sounds safer, and not less because the smaller number looked tidier on the page.

Businesses That Should Buy More Than The Smallest Package

Some work has to be sold before it can be bought. A consultant quoting day rates, a bookkeeper taking on somebody’s payroll, a tutor preparing children for entrance exams: those buyers read for reassurance as much as information, and they want to see qualifications, how you work, and what happens at the first meeting. That is more than one page can carry, which is why Professional exists.

The same applies if you cover several towns or several services. Each one wants its own space on the site, so there is something specific for a search to land on. None of that makes cheap pay monthly websites a bad buy. It means the smallest size is the wrong size for that particular business, and the right move is one step up rather than four figures elsewhere.

You Do Not Write The Website

Copywriting is the thing people expect to lose with cheap pay monthly websites, and it is the part we keep.

You tell us in plain English what you do, who you do it for and where. We turn that into the page copy. You are not handed a blank document to fill in, and you are not choosing templates, fonts or layouts either. We aim to send your first draft within ten working days of having everything we need, and up to three review changes are included before it goes live.

A page that lists services without saying why anyone should pick you is the thing that costs you work, and that is a writing problem rather than a price problem.

What Any Low Monthly Price Should Still Include

Whoever you buy from, these seven things are reasonable to expect of cheap pay monthly websites, and all of them are in our packages:

  • Your own domain, registered and renewed, with your business as the registrant.
  • Hosting and an SSL certificate, with no separate invoice arriving later in the year.
  • A site built for phones first, because that is where most people will see it.
  • Email on your own domain rather than a free address.
  • A stated timescale and a stated number of review changes before it goes live.
  • A clear price for a change after launch, so you know before you ask.
  • A written answer on ownership. Ours is simple: after the twelve month minimum term the website is yours, provided your account is up to date.

Ask those seven things of anyone offering cheap pay monthly websites and you will know within an email what you are buying. We set the lot out on how pay monthly websites work so you do not have to ask us at all.

Two Technical Things Worth Getting Right

Neither of these should vary with price. A site should load quickly on a phone on mobile data, and anything that tracks visitors needs handling properly. If analytics or a chat widget sets cookies you need a banner and a short privacy page, and the ICO guidance on cookies sets out what is required. Both are handled on every build we do, at every price.

How The Billing Works

Cheap pay monthly websites should be simple to buy and simple to leave, so here is ours in four lines. Payment is two months upfront, covering your first month and your final month. After that it is one payment a month. There is a twelve month minimum term, and once that is done it runs month to month with thirty days’ written notice to stop.

No setup fee, no separate hosting invoice later in the year, and no renewal letter for the domain. Every price on the site is shown excluding VAT, which is added at the checkout.

Cheap Compared With Building It Yourself

The honest competitor to cheap pay monthly websites is not an expensive agency, it is a Saturday and a website builder. A do it yourself subscription costs less in cash. It costs you the evenings instead, and then it keeps costing them, because the thing needs updating and nobody else is going to do it.

Some people genuinely enjoy that side of it. If you would rather spend the time quoting work, the monthly fee is buying back your weekends, and we have set the two side by side on our pay monthly versus DIY page so you can judge it for yourself.

What Sits Outside The Packages

A few things are not part of the set monthly packages. If you need any of them, just ask and we will quote separately.

  • Online shops. Payments, stock, refunds and tax handling are a different job, so a shop is priced on its own rather than folded into a monthly fee.
  • Booking or membership systems built to your own rules. We embed one you already use at no extra cost, and build to order as a separate quote.
  • Large content programmes with ongoing search work. That is more pages and more monthly work than a set package carries, so we price it for what it is.
  • Brand led design work, where the look of the thing is the pitch. That is a separate quote on top of the build.

So Are Cheap Pay Monthly Websites Worth It?

For most one van, one room and one laptop businesses, yes, as long as the low price comes from an efficient way of working rather than from leaving things out that you needed. Cheap pay monthly websites do the job a small firm actually needs doing: they prove you exist, show what you do, and put your number in front of somebody who is already half decided.

Ours start at £24.99 plus VAT a month and go up to £89.99, with the domain, hosting, email, the writing and the build included at every level. Have a look at what each package includes, or tell us what your business does and we will say which size fits and what it would cost you a month.

Prefer to pay for the build outright instead? We can quote for that too, so just say when you get in touch.
