Pay Monthly Website For Consultants

Oct 26, 2026 | Advice

A pay monthly website for consultants solves one awkward problem: you need to look established on the day you start, which is usually the day you have the least spare cash sitting around. Your first six months are built out of introductions. Someone you used to work with passes your name to a finance director, and that director does what everyone does before replying. They type your name into Google.

What comes back decides whether you get a call on Thursday or nothing at all.

Credibility Gets Checked Before Anyone Replies

Consulting is sold on judgement, and judgement is almost impossible to demonstrate in a cold email. The buyer cannot try a sample. They cannot see your work until they have already paid for some of it. So they look for signals instead: what you actually do, who you have done it for, and whether you look like a going concern rather than somebody filling a gap between permanent roles.

Picture an ordinary Tuesday for a freelance health and safety consultant. A referral lands from a former colleague. The operations manager on the other end wants to move, but before any supplier gets near a purchase order there is a form: trading name, public liability and professional indemnity details, VAT status, website address. Leaving the last box empty is not fatal, but it starts the relationship with a question mark, and the person filling in that form now has a small job to do explaining you internally.

A LinkedIn profile does some of this work. It does not do all of it. Your profile sits inside someone else’s platform next to job adverts and people openly looking for work, the layout is identical to every other profile, and you cannot control what appears beside it. A site at your own domain is the only place where the words, the order and the emphasis are yours.

What A Pay Monthly Website For Consultants Actually Covers

Our packages are £24.99, £39.99, £54.99 and £89.99 a month plus VAT, for one page, up to three pages, up to five and up to ten. That fee is not rent on a design. Each month covers:

  • the build itself, written and put together for you rather than handed over as a blank template
  • the domain, your .co.uk or .com, registered and kept renewed
  • hosting and the SSL certificate, so the padlock is there and nobody sees a browser warning
  • email on your own domain, so your quotes go out from you@yourfirm.co.uk instead of a Gmail address
  • one small update a month on the Professional and Premium packages; any extra changes are £10 +VAT each

So a pay monthly website for consultants bundles the things you would otherwise be tracking across four or five accounts: a registrar renewal, a hosting bill, a mailbox subscription, a certificate, and someone to ring when a page needs changing. One line on the bank statement instead of five, and one person to email when your service list changes.

Worth knowing before you choose: the Starter package is a single page and does not include a contact form, so enquiries come by phone or email. For a lot of independent advisers that is genuinely fine, because the people who ring you already have your number from a referral. If you want the form, start at Professional.

If you do take enquiry details through a form, you are storing personal data. Most consultants processing client information need to pay the data protection fee, and the ICO’s self assessment tool will tell you in a couple of minutes whether that applies to you.

The Pages That Earn Their Keep

Most people buying a pay monthly website for consultants land on the three page package, and it is usually the right call. Here is what those pages carry.

Home

Say what you do and who for, in the first line, in the language your buyer uses. “Interim HR support for manufacturing businesses with 50 to 250 staff” beats “transformational people solutions” every single time, because the first one tells a works director in thirty seconds that you are relevant and the second one tells them nothing.

About, Or Rather Proof

This is the page an independent adviser lives or dies on. Years in the discipline, the sectors you know, the qualifications that matter in your field, the size of organisation you are used to. An IT consultant who ran infrastructure for a 400-seat business for nine years should say so plainly. Nobody buys advice from a stranger with no history.

Services And Engagement

What a piece of work with you looks like. A two day diagnostic, a three month interim, a retained day a fortnight. Buyers are trying to picture the shape of the thing, and when they cannot, they stall. You do not have to publish rates, though saying “most engagements start at two days” filters out the enquiries that were never going to go anywhere.

Five pages, at £54.99 +VAT, makes sense when you have genuinely separate service lines that different buyers search for: an employment law audit and a recruitment process review sell to the same person but not in the same conversation. Ten pages suits a consultant publishing properly, with sector pages and written case notes.

The Fee Next To Your Day Rate

Run the arithmetic the way you would for a client. The three page package at £39.99 a month is £479.88 a year plus VAT. If you bill £500 a day, your entire web presence for twelve months costs you less than one billable day, and the VAT comes back if you are registered. One enquiry a year that turns into a two day piece of work has paid for a decade of it.

That is the honest case for a pay monthly website for consultants. Not that it is cheap, but that it is small enough to stop being a decision. You are not weighing up a four figure quote against this quarter’s pipeline while you are still waiting on two invoices.

Paying In One Go Or Paying Monthly

Both routes get you a site. The difference is what you carry.

A one off build is a single price for design and words, then you arrange the domain, the hosting and the mailbox yourself and renew them each year. You own the result immediately. When something needs changing in eight months, you find someone and agree a price for that job.

A pay monthly website for consultants spreads the build across the term and keeps the running parts inside the fee. We pay the renewals, we keep the certificate valid, and on Professional and Premium you get a small change a month without a quote. Payment is two months upfront, covering your first month and your final one, then a twelve month minimum term. That suits an adviser who wants the whole thing handled and would rather spend the hour on a proposal than on a hosting control panel. The detail of how it runs is on how pay monthly websites work, and what we build specifically for advisers is set out on our website design for consultants page.

If you would rather pay for the build in one go, we can do that too. Get in touch and we will price it.

What Happens After Twelve Months

This is the question we get asked most, and the answer is short. After the twelve month minimum term the website belongs to you, provided your account is up to date. From that point it runs month to month and you can give thirty days written notice whenever you like.

So a pay monthly website for consultants is not a lease you never get to the end of. You are paying for a build over time and for the running of it, and the thing you bought ends up yours. If you later decide you want to take it elsewhere, or you take on an in-house marketer who would rather manage it themselves, that is a conversation and not a hostage situation.

From Setup Form To Live

The part most people dread is the admin, so here is the whole of it. There is one setup form, about fifteen minutes, covering what you do, who you work with, your background and how you want to be contacted. Send over a logo if you have one and any photos of you worth using. A decent head and shoulders shot matters more for an adviser than it does for most trades, because the client is buying you.

We aim to have a first draft with you within ten working days of having everything we need, and sites are usually live in 10 working days on that basis. Up to three review changes are included before it goes live, so if the wording on your services page is not quite how you would put it in a room, say so.

The slow part is almost never us. It is the week you spend deciding how to describe yourself. If you are stuck, write down the last three questions a client asked you in a first meeting and answer those on the page.

Is A Pay Monthly Website For Consultants The Right Call?

If you are advising independently, your enquiries arrive through people who already half trust you, and you want a proper presence at your own domain without a project fee landing in a month when two invoices are late, then yes. A pay monthly website for consultants gets you to credible quickly and keeps you there, and after twelve months the site is yours.
