In short

Three questions, five seconds

Website design for cafes has about five seconds to answer three questions: are you open, where are you, and what have you got. Everything else is a bonus.

What they are checking

What someone on their phone needs

Almost everyone looking up a cafe or takeaway is on a phone, often standing outside somewhere or deciding on the way home. They want opening hours that are actually correct, a menu they can read without pinching and zooming, and a map link that opens straight into their phone. A PDF menu is the single most common mistake, because it is unreadable on a phone and invisible to Google. Real text beats a picture of text every time.

Website design for cafes is a phone-first job. Hours, menu and directions come before anything decorative.

The essentials

What good website design for cafes actually includes

Six things that turn a search into someone walking through the door.

  • Opening hours that are correct, including bank holidays and seasonal changes
  • Your menu as real text, not a PDF and not a photo of a chalkboard
  • Where you are, with a map link and a note about parking
  • Dietary information, vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and allergens
  • Whether you do takeaway, delivery or collection, and how to order
  • Photos of the food and the room, which sell the place better than words

What we build for cafes

Website design for cafes has three jobs on a phone screen: where you are, when you are open, and what is on. This is what website design for cafes looks like across the places we build for.

Independent coffee shops

Opening hours, the address and a map first, because that is what somebody standing on the pavement with a phone is looking for.

Cafes with a kitchen

Your menu on the page as text rather than a photograph of a chalkboard, so it can be read on a phone and found in a search.

Bakeries and patisseries

Space for what you bake daily, what has to be ordered ahead, and how much notice you need for a cake.

Tearooms and lunch spots

Room for the specials, seating, dogs, prams and parking, which is most of what you get asked over the phone anyway.

Cafes that take bookings and hire

Private hire given its own space, with capacity and what is included, and a form that captures the date and numbers.

Mobile coffee and pop-ups

Where you will be and when, with event hire enquiries kept separate from everyday custom so the two do not get mixed up.

What you get

What the monthly price covers

Our website design for cafes is one payment that covers the site and everything it needs to stay online. Nothing else to buy, and no separate renewal invoices landing at odd times of the year.

  • Your domain, registered and renewed as part of the price
  • Hosting and an SSL certificate, so browsers do not flag your site as insecure
  • Email on your own domain, a forwarder on Starter and Essential, a full mailbox on Professional and Premium
  • Search setup done at build, not sold back to you as an extra later
  • One small update a month included on Professional and Premium
  • Any other change, £10 plus VAT each, whenever you want it

The process

From paying to being live

Website design for cafes should not need a fortnight of meetings. No proposal document, no choosing templates or fonts. Four steps, and only the second one needs your time.

Payment goes through Stripe. Two months upfront, covering your first and final month.

  2. 02

    Fill in one setup form

Business name, services, contact details, opening hours, the areas you cover, photos, social links and your domain. Most people finish it in about fifteen minutes.

  3. 03

    We build it

Domain, hosting, SSL and email set up, your pages written from what you told us, and the search setup done at the same time.

  4. 04

You check it and we launch

First draft usually within ten working days of having everything, and up to three review changes are included.

Choosing

Which package most cafes pick, and what to ask us about

Straight answers about our website design for cafes, so you can rule us in or out without ringing anybody.

  • Starter suits a cafe that just needs to exist online properly, with hours and a map. It is one page and there is no contact form on it.
  • Essential is the usual starting point: Home, Services and Contact, with a contact form so enquiries land in your inbox rather than your voicemail.
  • Professional is where most cafes settle, because it adds the gallery or reviews section and includes one small update a month.
  • Premium is for firms that want up to ten pages and their own blog to publish to.
  • Already use a booking tool? We embed it so customers can pick a slot without leaving your site, at no extra cost.
  • Anything not listed in the packages? Just ask. We will quote for it separately.

FAQs

Questions about website design for cafes

Can I take online orders through the site?

Not as part of a pay monthly package. Ordering and payments would be quoted separately. What we do is link clearly to whatever you already use, such as Deliveroo, Just Eat or Uber Eats.

My menu changes all the time. Is that a problem?

Specials boards change faster than any website should. Most cafes keep the core menu on the site and point to social media for daily specials. Professional includes one monthly update for the bigger changes.

Do I still need a website if I have a Google Business Profile?

They do different jobs. Your Google profile gets you found on the map, and it ranks better when it points at a real website with matching hours and a proper menu. The two reinforce each other.

How long until it is live?

We aim to send your first draft within ten working days of having everything we need, which in practice means ten working days from you finishing the setup form. Up to three review changes are included, and it goes live as soon as you are happy.

Do I have to write the words?

No. Tell us in plain English what you do and we shape it into the page copy, which is the part of website design for cafes that stalls most projects elsewhere. You are not sent a blank document and asked to fill it in, and you are not asked to choose templates, fonts or layouts either.

Am I tied in?

Website design for cafes here runs on a twelve month minimum term, then month to month. After the minimum term you can cancel with thirty days' written notice. Payment is two months upfront at sign-up, covering your first and final month, then monthly.

Who owns the website?

After the twelve month minimum term, full ownership of the website passes to you. That applies to every website design for cafes package we sell. The domain is registered as part of your package and stays associated with your business.

I already have a domain. Can you use it?

Yes. Put it on the setup form instead of a new one and we will point everything at it. If you would rather start with a new domain, we register that for you as part of the price.

What if I need a change after it is live?

Professional and Premium include one small update a month. Beyond that, changes are £10 plus VAT each. You email us what you want changed, you do not log in and do it yourself unless you want to.

Can I pay for the website up front instead?

Yes. Pay monthly is what most of our customers choose, but if you would rather pay for the build in one go, the traditional way, we will quote for that too. It is priced separately, as the design plus the domain and hosting, so just ask and we will put a price together.
