In short

You do not need a checkout to compete

Website design for local shops does not need to sell online to be worth having. They need to get someone off their phone and through your door, which is a much simpler job.

What they are checking

What gets someone through the door

Most people searching for a shop like yours are nearby and deciding whether it is worth the trip. They want to know what you stock, where you are, when you are open and whether you have the thing they need. A shop website that does those four things well pays for itself, and it is what makes your Google listing rank properly for searches with near me in them. You do not need a checkout to compete.

The essentials

What good website design for local shops actually includes

Six things that turn a local search into a visit.

  • What you actually stock, in the words people search for
  • Opening hours, kept correct including bank holidays
  • Where you are and how to park, with a map link
  • Any services beyond selling, repairs, orders, gift wrapping or delivery
  • Photos of the shop so people recognise it from the street
  • Whether you take phone or email orders, and how that works

By shop

What we build for local shops

Website design for local shops is not one template. A card shop and a bike shop need the page to do different jobs. This is what website design for local shops tends to look like on the high streets we build for.

Gift and card shops

Your stock described the way people actually ask for it, with opening hours and where you are kept in plain sight on a phone screen.

Bike, outdoor and hobby shops

Repairs, servicing and fitting given their own space, because that is the work people search for by name before they search for a shop.

Butchers, bakers and delis

Space for what you make yourself, with order and collection wording so people know what to ring or email about.

Hardware and DIY shops

Trade counter and walk-in kept apart, and the brands you stock listed so nobody has to guess whether you have it in.

Florists

Occasions split out, delivery areas written in full, and a contact form that collects the details you need to price an order.

Charity and independent shops

Donations, volunteering and opening hours all in one place, rather than buried in a social post from three weeks ago.

What you get

What the monthly price covers

Our website design for local shops is one payment that covers the site and everything it needs to stay online. Nothing else to buy, and no separate renewal invoices landing at odd times of the year.

  • Your domain, registered and renewed as part of the price
  • Hosting and an SSL certificate, so browsers do not flag your site as insecure
  • Email on your own domain, a forwarder on Starter and Essential, a full mailbox on Professional and Premium
  • Search setup done at build, not sold back to you as an extra later
  • One small update a month included on Professional and Premium
  • Any other change, £10 plus VAT each, whenever you want it

The process

From paying to being live

Website design for local shops should not need a fortnight of meetings. No proposal document, no choosing templates or fonts. Four steps, and only the second one needs your time.

  1. 01

Choose a package and check out

Payment goes through Stripe. Two months upfront, covering your first and final month.

  2. 02

    Fill in one setup form

Business name, services, contact details, opening hours, the areas you cover, photos, social links and your domain. Most people finish it in about fifteen minutes.

  3. 03

    We build it

Domain, hosting, SSL and email set up, your pages written from what you told us, and the search setup done at the same time.

  4. 04

You check it and we launch

First draft usually within ten working days of having everything, and up to three review changes are included.

Choosing

Which package most shops pick, and what to ask us about

Straight answers about our website design for local shops, so you can rule us in or out without ringing anybody.

  • Starter suits a shop that just needs to exist online properly, with opening hours and a map. It is one page and there is no contact form on it.
  • Essential is the usual starting point: Home, Services and Contact, with a contact form so enquiries land in your inbox rather than your voicemail.
  • Professional is where most shops settle, because it adds the gallery or reviews section and includes one small update a month.
  • Premium is for firms that want up to ten pages and their own blog to publish to.
  • Already use a booking tool? We embed it so customers can pick a slot without leaving your site, at no extra cost.
  • Anything not listed in the packages? Just ask. We will quote for it separately.

FAQs

Questions about website design for local shops

Do I need an online shop?

Not to benefit from a website. A shop is not part of a pay monthly package, but we can quote for one. Plenty of shops do very well with a brochure site that drives footfall, then add a shop later if the demand is really there.

Can I list every product?

You would not want to, because it becomes impossible to keep accurate. Categories and brands work better, plus a line inviting people to ring and ask if they want something specific.

Does a website help my Google listing?

Yes. A Google Business Profile that links to a real website with matching hours and address is treated as more trustworthy, and it is one of the things that decides who shows up in the local map results.

How long until it is live?

We aim to send your first draft within ten working days of having everything we need, which in practice means ten working days from you finishing the setup form. Up to three review changes are included, and it goes live as soon as you are happy.

Do I have to write the words?

No. Tell us in plain English what you do and we shape it into the page copy, which is the part of website design for local shops that stalls most projects elsewhere. You are not sent a blank document and asked to fill it in, and you are not asked to choose templates, fonts or layouts either.

Am I tied in?

Website design for local shops here runs on a twelve month minimum term, then month to month. After the minimum term you can cancel with thirty days' written notice. Payment is two months upfront at sign-up, covering your first and final month, then monthly.

Who owns the website?

After the twelve month minimum term, full ownership of the website passes to you. That applies to every website design for local shops package we sell. The domain is registered as part of your package and stays associated with your business.

I already have a domain. Can you use it?

Yes. Put it on the setup form instead of a new one and we will point everything at it. If you would rather start with a new domain, we register that for you as part of the price.

What if I need a change after it is live?

Professional and Premium include one small update a month. Beyond that, changes are £10 plus VAT each. You email us what you want changed, you do not log in and do it yourself unless you want to.

Can I pay for the website up front instead?

Yes. Pay monthly is what most of our customers choose, but if you would rather pay for the build in one go, the traditional way, we will quote for that too. It is priced separately, as the design plus the domain and hosting, so just ask and we will put a price together.
